Onion tomato chutney
Quick tip -
1. Adjust spices according to taste.
Ingredients -
1 tbsp mustard oil
1 tsp white urad dal
1 tsp chana dal
2 dry red chilli
1 inch ginger sliced
5-6 garlic cloves
1 onion sliced
1-1/2 cup tomato diced
1 tsp tamarind paste
To taste salt
Pinch sugar
1/2 cup water
Other ingredients -
3 tsp mustard oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp white urad dal
1 dry red chilli
Method -
1. Heat oil in a wok. Add urad dal, chana dal, dry red chilli, ginger, garlic and let it splutter for a second.
2. Add onion and fry till translucent.
3. Add tomato and mix well.
4. Cook on slow flame for 4-5 minute. Stir in between.
5. Cover and cook till tomatoes are soft. Switch off the flame. Let it cool.
6. Let it cool completely.
7. Add onion tomato mixture to the mixer jar. Add salt, sugar, tamarind paste and water.
8. Grind it to smooth paste.
9. Transfer it to a bowl. Add water.
10. Mix it well.
11. For tempering - Heat oil in a wok. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilli. Let it splutter. Tempering is ready.
12. Pour tempering on the chutney.
13. Onion tomato chutney is ready.
14. Serve with dosa, uttapam, idli or vada.
