Jalebi
Jalebi is a popular sweet snack from Indian cuisine. It is crispy, crunchy and juicy dessert.
Ingredients for jalebi -
1 cup Maida
1 cup Rice flour
1/4 tsp Baking powder
3 tsp Curd
As needed water to make batter
1 tsp Red food color
As needed Oil for deep frying
For sugar syrup :
2 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
Method :
1. In a bowl mix maida, rice flour, baking powder, curd.
2. Add water little by little to make a thick and pouring batter. Cover and keep aside for 2 hrs.
3. Batter should be thick but pouring.
4. After 2 hours add red food color.
5. Mix well.
For sugar syrup -
1. In a big bowl add sugar and water.
2. Boil it upto one string consistency. (Sugar syrup should always be hot when putting jalebi in it. If it gets cold reheat it again till hot.)
3. Check the consistency it should be one string.
For frying -
1. Pour batter in a squeeze bottle.
2. Close the bottle lid.
3. Heat oil in a wok. Pour batter and make spring like shape of jalebi's in hot oil. Deep fry them on medium high flame. It will be crispy and light brown.
4. Remove jalebi from wok and immediately put in hot sugar syrup and leave it for 4-5 mins.
5. Jalebi's are ready.
6. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top and serve hot.
