 Chatpate imli corns/ Spicy tamarind corns 


Spicy tamarind corns are easy, quick, healthy and lip smacking dish. It is prepared using frozen corn kernels sauted in butter along with capsicum, onion, tamarind and flavoured Indian spices. It can be served as a side dish or can be eaten as an evening snack.


Ingredients -

1 cup Frozen corn kernels

2 Capsicum thinly sliced 

1 Onion chopped 

3 tbsp Oil

3 tbsp Butter

1 tsp Mustard seeds 

To taste Salt

1 tsp Red chilli powder 

2 tbsp Imli paste/ tamarind paste

1 tbsp White sesame seeds 

1/2 cup Coriander leaves 

Method -

1. Add frozen corn in hot water for 1/2 hour. Drain and keep aside.

2. Heat oil and butter in wok on slow flame. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter for a minute. Add onion and fry till translucent.

3. Add capsicum and fry on high flame for a few minute. Add salt, red chilli powder and mix well.

4. Add frozen corns and mix. Fry for few minutes on high flame. 

5. Add tamarind paste and sesame seeds.

6. Mix well on slow flame for a minute. Switch off the flame.

7. Add coriander leaves and mix. Spicy tamarind corns are ready.

8. Serve hot as an evening snack.
