It is an easy 'South Indian' dish which is made by using fermented idli batter. "Idli batter" which is made by using 1 cup white urad dal & 3 cups rice. The hack in this recipe is I used basmati rice. These paniyarams are golden crispy from outside and soft, spongy from inside.
Kuzhi Coconut Paniyaram
Ingredient -
3 cup - Idli batter
to taste - Salt
1 tsp -Red chilli powder
to taste - Salt
1 tsp -Red chilli powder
1 tsp - Red chilli flakes
1 - Onion chopped
5-6 tbsp - Coconut powder
2-3 tbsp - Coriander leaves chopped
1 tsp - Mustard seeds
2 tsp - Sambhar masala
1 - Onion chopped
5-6 tbsp - Coconut powder
2-3 tbsp - Coriander leaves chopped
1 tsp - Mustard seeds
2 tsp - Sambhar masala
Method -
In a bowl add idli batter, salt, red chilli powder, red chilli flakes, onion, mustard seeds, coconut powder, sambhar masala and coriander leaves. Mix well.
Heat paniyaram pan. Add little oil in each hole. Add spoonful of batter in each hole. Cover and cook on slow flame for few mins or till bottom turns golden.
Flip the side again cover and cook for 2-3 min. Open the lid and turn the flame on high. Cook for 2-3 min or till golden & properly cooked. Switch off the flame.
Place kazhi paniyaram in plates and serve hot with sambar.
